How Voiceovers Work in Courseau
Voiceovers are a powerful feature in Courseau that allow you to add audio narration to your courses, enhancing the learning experience for your audience. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about using voiceovers in your Courseau projects.
Courseau offers two main types of voiceovers:
AI-Generated Voices - Choose from a selection of high-quality AI voices
Custom Recordings - Upload your own audio recordings for a personalized touch
Option 1: AI-Generated Voice
AI audio is automatically generated along with each course. Unless a custom voiceover is used, students will have access to the AI version.
Click on the audio options button (headphones icon) in the editor
In the dropdown menu, select your preferred voice from the "Voiceover" dropdown
Toggle on ‘preview audio’ to hear the voice

Courseau provides several AI voice options to choose from:
Alloy - A versatile, neutral voice
Echo - A clear, resonant voice
Fable - A narrative-focused voice with storytelling qualities
Onyx - A deep, authoritative voice
Nova - A bright, energetic voice
Shimmer - A soft, soothing voice
Option 2: Custom Voiceovers
For a more personal touch, you can upload your own audio recordings:
Click on the audio options button (headphones icon) in the editor
Select [custom voiceover] from the voiceover dropdown
In the narration modal that appears, you can:
Upload an MP3 audio file for the current lesson
Navigate between lessons to add recordings to different parts of your course
Preview, replace, or delete existing recordings
Best practices for custom voiceovers
Keep recordings clear and concise - Aim for professional quality with minimal background noise
Use consistent voices - Try to maintain the same voice throughout your course for a cohesive experience
Consider your audience - Choose voices that match the tone and style of your content
Test before publishing - Always preview your audio to ensure it sounds as expected
